Dr. Bernard Gorman, Professor of Psychology at Nassau Community College, Named Distinguished Professor by the State University of New York Board of Trustees
Garden City, NY – Dr. Bernard Gorman, a professor in Nassau Community College’s psychology department, has been appointed to the rank of Distinguished Professor by the State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees. Dr. Gorman has had an outstanding career as an educator, scholar, author and international expert in psychology, research design and statistical analysis. He is highly respected by his students and colleagues. The software he has written is used throughout the world, and he has achieved much success as a textbook editor and author of scholarly research papers, as well as a sought out lecturer. Over the course of his career, Dr. Gorman has received numerous awards and honors.
Dr. Gorman is one of 24 faculty system-wide that have been appointed to the distinguished ranks. “SUNY has now conferred its highest faculty honor upon more than 850 current and retired professors from across the system,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “These honors recognize their extraordinary achievements as teachers, scholars and mentors, which are a tremendous source of pride for the State University.”
In addition to the selection criteria for the Distinguished Teaching Professorship, to be nominated, a faculty member must have held the rank of full professor for five years, have three years of full-time service at the nominating institution, have completed at least ten years of full-time service for SUNY and have regularly carried a full-time teaching load as defined by the campus.
