
Acting President
Dr. Kenneth Saunders comes to the position of Acting President with the benefit of having worked in higher education for almost three decades. For the past eighteen months, he has served as Executive Vice President of Nassau Community College after having been NCC’s Vice President for Academic Student Services for the previous twelve years.
Dr. Saunders believes that NCC should be at the forefront in meeting the dynamic challenges that community colleges face in being pathways of opportunity for educational advancement and career development. In this environment, he understands that maintaining and enhancing NCC’s well-earned nationwide reputation for academic excellence can be realized only through the collaborative efforts of its dedicated faculty, staff, administrators and Board of Trustees utilizing their creative energies to ensure the continued vitality of our fine College. Through these efforts within its shared governance structure, Dr. Saunders is confident that NCC will be able to continue to fulfill its mission of being an affordable and accessible, high quality institution of higher education that serves our students and the communities in which they live.
After earning his BA from Bowling Green State University, Dr. Saunders received his Masters in Education from Howard University, attended Harvard’s Institute for Educational Management and received his doctorate in Education, Higher Education Management and Leadership, from the University of Pennsylvania.
As the campus is undergoing an upgrade of its physical facilities to assist the learning process and the quality of student life, Dr. Saunders looks forward to working with all segments of the campus and the Long Island community. He brings a passionate determination and a steady commitment in providing an affordable and accessible higher education to our students while serving the region's needs in a multiplicity of ways.
