What is the date of Graduation?
Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 7:00 P.M.
Students should arrive no later than 6:00 p.m.
Where is Graduation?
The graduation ceremony will take place at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Where and when do I get measured?
Cap, gown, hood and tassel can be picked up at the College Bookstore on campus during normal operating hours of the Bookstore starting on April 15, 2013. Be reminded that this custom designed academic regalia is yours to keep.
Is there a fee for the academic regalia?
The cap, gown, hood and tassel are part of the graduation fee that is already included in your tuition payment.
Are there tickets?
Invitations/tickets are not required and you may invite as many guests as you wish to the graduation exercise.
Where do I park?
Parking is available at the Coliseum. There is no fee for parking on May 22, 2013.
Where do I go the day of graduation?
Students are to report to the Exhibition Hall in the Lower Level of the Coliseum. Guests will not be permitted in the Lower Level with the students.
My grandmother is coming, she can’t walk far, is there special seating?
Please find Coliseum security, as there is a special seating area with an elevator. See the Coliseum's website for more information regarding these services.
Are individual names read?
Yes, a highlight of graduation is the introduction of each candidate during the Line of March. You’ll be given an identification card when you arrive at the Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday, May 22. Note that the card permits a phonetic spelling of your name. It is suggested that you use phonetics to simplify and insure the accuracy of the pronunciation of your name.
Do I receive my diploma that day?
No, they are mailed to your home by the Registrar’s Office. This process is automatically completed following certification of transcripts and the printing of diplomas, so allow for several weeks to receive yours.
How long will the commencement exercise take?
Approximately 2 ½ hours.
Who will be the speaker?
As in the past, Acting President Kenneth Saunders, a representative of the County, the president of Student Government and the Valedictorian.
I belong to Phi Theta Kappa, how do I get the gold tassel and hood?
You should receive information from Phi Theta Kappa directly.
What classes does the Ceremony cover?
There is only one ceremony, which covers August 2012, December 2012 and May 2013.
I lost my copy of the letter and the receipt?
If you have filed your graduation application prior to the cut-off date, your name can be confirmed from a list at the Bookstore. If you did not apply for graduation on time, you must have a copy of your graduation application receipt.
