Pathways Transfer Agreement with NCC for RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Empire State College will offer AS degree graduates in Nursing from Nassau Community College an opportunity to participate in the Pathways transfer program into the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing program.  NCC graduates meeting the ESC's admission requirements will become Empire State College students upon admission.

Admission Requirements:

• Completed AS degree in Nursing
• Possession of an active, unencumbered nursing license (RN)
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Current certification in CPR
• Current resume
• Completed Empire State College admissions application

Each participating student will be able to transfer all credits earned as part of his/her associate's degree to Empire State College, up to 80 credits.  The minimum number of credits to be taken as ESC would be 48 advanced-level credits, which would include 40 credits in Nursing.  Additional credits may be awarded for students who have life and work experience considered equivalent to college-level learning.  A maximum of 96 total credits may be transferred to Empire State College from a combination of Nassau Community College coursework and prior learning assessment.

Nursing students may enroll at Empire State College on a full or part-time basis.  Students may elect to follow a two-year or three-year program track.

State University College of Technology at Delhi

About the Major
The RN to BSN program at SUNY Delhi provides educational mobility for registered nurses who are seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  The curriculum is designed with the working registered nurse in mind and
offers versatility and flexibility as the program is 100% online.  Precepted practicum experiences for select courses are completed in the student's community.  The program emphasizes critical thinking and
practice skills necessary for clinical management of patient within a constantly changing health environment.

Admission Criteria

• Graduation from an accredited associate degree or diploma program.
• Liberal arts and sciences credits for diploma graduates must be granted
• from collegiate institution.  Official transcripts are required.
• Current RN license.
• A minimum of 60 semester hours from an associate degree nursing program with nursing coursework grades of C+ or better, and liberal arts and science courses of C or better.  Required courses include anatomy and physiology I & II, microbiology, English, and psychology.
• Student may transfer a maximum of 30 credits hours of upper division credits, with a maximum of 15 upper division nursing credits.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above for prerequisite credits.

Farmingdale State College

In order to provide a pathway to a baccalaureate degree in nursing, an Accelerated Articulation Agreement has been developed between Nassau Community College and Farmingdale State College. NOTE: This program only accepts students for the Fall semester.

1.  The first Cohort will be accepted for the fall 2012 semester. Students will apply to both Nassau Community College (NCC) and Farmingdale State College (FSC) through NCC admission process.

2.  Admission Requirements:

• Admission is by invitation of applicants from among those already accepted to NCC.
• NLN-PAX – preadmission exam. (Students responsible to arrange for exam at this time.)
• “B” or better in Anatomy & Physiology I on the FIRST attempt within past 5 years. (Must obtain a “B” or better in Anatomy & Physiology II in order to remain in the FSC program.)
• All other prerequisites are the same as NCC.

 3.  Courses taken at NCC as part of the nursing curriculum will be accepted toward the completion of the baccalaureate:

• SOC201 – Introduction to Sociology will be accepted as FSC SOC 122
• PSY 216 – Lifespan Development will be accepted as FSC PSY 233
• MAT 102 – Introduction to Statistics will be accepted as upper level course work at FSC as MTH 110

 4.   Electives at NCC that will be accepted at FSC:

• COM 101 – Oral Communications will be accepted as FSC SPE 201
• PHI 110 – Biomedical Ethics will be accepted as FSC BIO 240

5.   FSC courses taught at NCC by FSC faculty to be applied to FSC upper division program:

• NUR 110 Foundation Nursing Practice I, 1 credit
• NUR 111 Foundations of Nursing Practice II, I credit
• NUR 215W Nursing Ways of Knowing, 3 credits
• NUR 216 Art of Nursing, 2 credits

 6.   Students accepted to the joint program will:

• Participate in activities sponsored by NCC and those sponsored by FSC.

 7.   Participants in the joint program will:

• Graduate from NCC with an AS degree in Nursing
• Pass NCLEX-RN Summer of 2014
• Go to FSC in the summer/fall of 2014 to complete upper division course work:
  • Nursing 29 credits
  • HST 301
  • BIO 240 (PHI 110 at NCC will be accepted for this course)
  • Remaining General Education credits for a total of 120 credits.
