The Fall 2009 Nassau Community College Cultural Program Presents "Actress Amber Tamblyn Presents an Afternoon of Poetry"
Garden City, NY – The Fall 2009 Cultural Program at Nassau Community College is proud to host Actress Amber Tamblyn Presents an Afternoon of Poetry on Wednesday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the College Center Building. Tamblyn will read from her latest book of poetry, Bang Ditto.
As the daughter of American child star turned cult favorite Russ Tamblyn of Peyton Place and Twin Peaks, Hollywood ingénue Amber Tamblyn inherited her father's red hair, fair complexion and acting chops. Born in the early '80s, Tamblyn was discovered by an agent at her school during her preteen years and soon landed a prominent role as the maniacal tot Emily Quartermaine on the soap opera General Hospital. Tamblyn also starred in Joan of Arcadia, which was about teenager Joan Girardi who sees and speaks with God. In 2005, Tamblyn costarred in the hit movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, followed in 2008 by The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
Tamblyn is also a spokesperson for the Achievable Foundation, a Los Angeles-based group that offers support to developmentally disabled people and their families. In addition, she worked with MTV and its "Rock the Vote" campaign. The book Bang Ditto offers her poetic insight into what it's like to be in the public eye since the age of eight.
