The Nassau Community College Jewish Studies Program
Presents "Nazi Art Looting: Tales of Discovery"
Garden City, NY The Jewish Studies
Program at Nassau Community College is proud to present the program
Nazi Art Looting: Tales of Discovery by Dr. Evie T.
Joselow on Wednesday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the College Center
The greatest theft of art in the 20th century was the theft
carried out by Nazi Germany, beginning in 1933 and lasting until
the end of World War II. Shrouded in secrecy, the Nazis launched a
methodical and well-conceived campaign to confiscate and loot
Europe of its most valuable art treasures. Prominent art
historians, including museum directors and scholars, were called
into service to identify and locate important works of art. During
her presentation, independent art historian Dr. Evie T. Joselow
unravels many of the mysteries of Nazi art looting, and offers a
unique perspective on Nazi policies, ideas and methods by
presenting personal family tales related to the looted art. Dr.
Joselow served as the Chief of Research at the Commission for Art
Recovery, an organization established to identify and locate art
looted by the Nazis. She currently teaches at the New York School
of Interior Design, Pratt Institute and New York University.
Nazi Art Looting: Tales of Discovery is free and open
to the public. For more information about the program, please

College Jewish Studies Program, at 516.572.7188.
