Congratulations to NCC Chief Administrative Officer Maria Conzatti, honored as part of City & State NY’s 2025 Above and Beyond Women power list.
Strengthening NCC’s role in the community is crucial to Dr. Conzatti. “The greatest thing that this college gave me was the ability to have a living wage and be able to stay in Nassau County. And it’s my way of paying it forward and it’s my privilege to see these students get an education and have the same choice to stay on Long Island.”

Meet Professor Catherine Lewis, a proud NCC alumna and first-generation college student. She is a counselor at the NCC Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) and an Assistant Professor in the Student Personnel Services Department, having earned her master’s degree in Special Education from CUNY Queens College. Professor Lewis coordinates the Interpreter and CART/ CPRINT services for the campus and is also the advisor to three student clubs and co-advisor to one.
Professor Lewis is a strong advocate for accessibility for people with disabilities on and off campus. Outside of NCC, she is the Chair of the SUNY Sector of the New York State Disability Service Council, member of Long Island College Counselors for Students with Disabilities (LICCSD), member of Nassau Counselors' Association (NCA), and member of SUNY Downstate Disability Services. Professor Lewis also travels around New York State speaking at conferences and fairs about the value of attending a community college and the disability support services.
NCC is a second home and family to Professor Lewis. After she and her two brothers graduated from NCC, her parents enrolled and graduated as well! One of her greatest joys every year is attending the NCC Commencement Ceremony in the spring and celebrating the students’ success!
